First question on this board as a new member just today.
I'm looking seriously at buying a JD 2210 for mowing (about 1 acre with a few trees), loader work (topsoil, fill stone, mulch), plowing snow and maybe adding a backhoe (burying downspouts, inground sprinklers) at some point.
Is there a current owner who could provide some feedback on how their 2210 is working for them? For example, what are the pluses/minuses? Any unscheduled repairs needed? Also, what MMM is best 54 or 62? Thanks!

Unless something has changed, the 2210 is not rated or built to take a backhoe.
If someone tells you to just go ahead and get it and the backhoe is in the works, well.......... that is what a whole bunch of Bx2200 owners thought. Then Kubota decided (and rightfully so) that a new and stronger machine was required to cope with the stresses of a backhoe. If a backhoe is in your plans you would be well advised to get a unit that has a hoe available right now.
Don't believe the pie in the sky promises.
BTW, the 2210 looks like a slightly scaled down version of my 4100 and the 4100 is definitely not backhoe compatible. ....

I too saw the messages noting an "in the works" jd hoe that would fit the 2210 and some 4k series tractors. I'm not holding my breath though...
Would the smallest 3-point mounted hoe from Woods or Land Pride work? ....

If the 2210 is an adaptation of 4100/Yanmar technology as I suspect, then the transmission housing and rear end are going to be cast aluminum, and that is not a good start in adapting or designing a backhoe into a 1300 pound tractor. If the 2210 has a seperate box steel frame like the BX series then there may be more hope. ....

How about a sub-frame supported BH? That would distribute the working forces through the whole tractor. Here and at other CUT boards there is much discussion about 3-point mounted vs sub-frame mounted BH's. Not sure at this point to say which is best but I do plan to go with the set-up that is best for the tractor and for the work I need to do, which is digging down about 4~5' through light soil. ....

When I was in the shopping phase I could not find a sub-frame for a 4100.
The only aftermarket compact tractor sub-frames out there are for tractors which already have OEM sub-frames available.
I guess that makes sense from an R&D perspective. It is a lot easier and cheaper to copy someone else's engineering than it is to navigate uncharted waters and design something from scratch.
Backhoes and compact tractors are sort of like ag tractors and FEL's years ago. FEL's appeared on the market and folks rushed out to mount them on their existing tractors.
The next thing that happened was they started breaking front axles or eating wheel bearings or overtaxing the puny hydraulic pumps of the day.
The tractors back then were not engineered with FEL stresses and loads in mind, they were simply pulling machines.
Now every tractor seems to have a FEL available and the front axles, forward sub-frames and hydraulic pumps are built to take the loads. We have come to take this for granted.
Maybe someday every tractor will roll off the assembly line ready and capable to take a hoe, but we are not there yet.
Mounting a B/hoe on a 3pt hitch is a lot like putting a FEL on your vintage 1953 Case. It isn't designed for it and you are courting TROUBLE. ....

Mazzotti is scheduled to release its model 180 this Feb. It is designed specifically for subcompact tractors. Currently it has the 200 which will work for many compacts. No breaking or other prolems reported so far. It is sold through Ag Equipment USA dealers. ....
